Prossy Namande was born in Uganda on August, 3rd, 1987. Raised at Daughters of Charity, which is now Children of Uganda, under the care of Sister Rose Muyinza, who is known as “Uganda's Mother Theresa”, Prossy learned the ways of Christlike compassion and service to humanity. When Prossy was eight years old, her super hero, Isabel Turner brought Prossy to Marjorie Shayler, Isabel's mother, who cared for her through childhood.
In 2006 Prossy graduated from Pearl Crest Hospitality Training Institute. After graduating she worked as a cook until, following a recommendation to join the Uganda Local Government Association, she landed a position as an office attendant, where she worked from 2010 until 2015. During her time at UGLA she furthered her education, receiving a Second Class Diploma in Project Planning and Management from Makerere University Business School, in Kampala, Uganda's capital city.
In 2016 the Uganda Local Government Association lost funding and Prossy, along with dozens of others were laid off. Prossy didn't quit, though, and refused to give up. She kept volunteering for several organizations, and maintained her vision of finding ways to help the people of her community and country.
She began forming Seeds For Uganda in 2020, during the COVID-19 lock down. Using her savings, she started with plastic bottle, in-home gardening, a technique introduced to her through permaculture activist, Robert Shields.
Prossy has created an international support network for Seeds For Uganda through her tireless efforts and outreach. From Alaska to Australia, Canada, Italy, England and beyond, Prossy’s passion and integrity inspires and ignites hearts from all walks of life.
